Seven student musicians from Laredo Independent School District have earned selection to the Texas Music Educators' Association (TMEA) 2026 All-State Band, placing them among the most accomplished high school musicians in Texas.
The All-State audition process began in November and drew more than 70,000 students from across the state. Selection to the ensemble represents placement within the top two percent of Texas high school musicians, reflecting a high level of musical achievement and sustained commitment to performance.
Representing Martin High School, percussionists Carlos Vela (6A) and David Morales (5A) earned All-State honors. From Nixon High School, Jesus Guerra Garcia was selected on oboe (5A) and Isabella Gomez on piccolo (6A). Cigarroa High School will be represented by Jacob Pineda on euphonium (5A), Kevyn Palomares on French horn (6A), and Carlos Garcia on trumpet (5A).
The students will attend the TMEA Clinic/Convention from February 11–14, 2026, where they will rehearse and perform as members of the 5A and 6A All-State Bands respectively, collaborating with top student musicians from across Texas.
This accomplishment reflects not only the students’ dedication and artistry, but also the preparation and mentorship provided by their instructors. LISD acknowledges the work of the band staffs at Martin, Nixon, and Cigarroa High Schools, along with the music faculty at the Vidal M. Trevino School of Communications and Fine Arts, whose guidance supported students throughout the rigorous audition process.
“This experience gives students the opportunity to perform at an elite level while learning alongside some of the strongest young musicians in Texas. It’s a moment that reflects both their individual dedication and the strength of our music programs,” said Fred Rodriguez, LISD Fine Arts Coordinator.
Through their selection to the All-State Band, these students exemplify the level of musical excellence cultivated across LISD campuses and will represent the district on one of Texas’ most respected music education stages.
