Reserve Class Champion

VMT art student Crystal Perrusquia has achieved a major milestone by earning the Reserve Class Champion title in Digital Illustration at the San Antonio Rodeo Western Art Competition. Her stunning artwork will be on display at The Briscoe Western Art Museum beginning in January 2026. In addition to this top honor, Perrusquia also received a $300 premium award, recognizing the quality and creativity of her work.

The San Antonio Rodeo Western Art Competition is one of the largest and most prestigious student art contests in Texas. Held in conjunction with the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, the competition focuses on Western heritage, landscapes, and lifestyle. This year, over 500 entries were submitted from students across the state, making Perrusquia’s achievement truly exceptional.

Her teacher, Mrs. Berrios, praised Crystal’s dedication and talent. “Crystal’s dedication, creativity, and attention to detail in her artwork are truly inspiring,” said Mrs. Berrios. “She worked tirelessly to develop her illustration skills. This recognition is a testament to her talent, perseverance, and hard work. She truly represents the spirit of VMT students.”

Crystal’s accomplishment not only highlights her personal skill and creativity but also reflects the strength of the VMT art program and the support of her teachers and peers. The recognition at the San Antonio Rodeo Western Art Competition is a significant honor that will provide her with a platform to share her work with a wider audience.
