Today, VMT students had a heartwarming and unforgettable experience at Kawas Elementary, delivering handmade dolls created from the kindergarteners’ own artwork. This special project was inspired by the movie UglyDolls, which shares a powerful message about accepting others, celebrating uniqueness, and valuing confidence and kindness.
As part of the collaboration, Kawas kindergarten students designed their very own “ugly doll” characters, using creativity and imagination to bring their ideas to life on paper. Under the guidance of Mrs. Clarissa Visarra, VMT Art students transformed these drawings into real, hand-stitched dolls, carefully crafting each one to match the child’s original vision.
The joy and amazement on the young students’ faces as they saw their drawings come to life was truly unforgettable. This project beautifully demonstrated the power of the arts to inspire creativity, foster collaboration, and bring communities together.
A heartfelt thank you goes to the administration and staff at Kawas Elementary for partnering with VMT and welcoming our students so warmly. Today’s project was a perfect example of how creativity and teamwork can spark imagination, spread joy, and leave lasting memories for students of all ages. 💛🎨🧵
