LISD, Congressman Henry Cuellar, Uni-Trade Group and the City of Laredo provided a festive send-off to L.J. Christen Middle School 7th grade student Santiago Cardenas. Santiago is traveling to our nation’s capital today where he was invited by our United States Representative Henry Cuellar to serve as Congressman for a Day. Traveling with Santiago is his mother, Stephanie Cardenas and his godmother/madrina Monica Alejandra Lopez. A special thank you to Congressman Cuellar, CEO of the Uni-Trade Group, el Licenciado Eduardo A. Garza Robles and Ray and Betsy Sanchez from Smiles from Heaven who have a made this trip possible.

The 6th grade Beginner Band Concert is tomorrow, Thursday May 1st at 5:30 p.m. It will be taking place at the new gym. "Doors" will open to the public at 5:00 p.m. The band students need to be in their seats ready to perform by 5:00.

Over 500 LISD student-athletes from Cigarroa, Martin and Nixon High Schools, and Cigarroa, Lamar, Memorial, and Christen Middle Schools were honored with a Bronze, Silver or Gold Medal for their perfect attendance, A Honor Roll, and positive attitude. The Triple “A” award is designed to encourage LISD student-athletes in developing strong academic skills, positive behaviors as role models, and the ability to demonstrate a positive attitude.
