Welcome to Don Jose Gallego
Principal's Message
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students, As we welcome the arrival of spring, April brings a sense of renewal and a final push toward the finish line of our academic year. This month is a busy one, filled with significant milestones and opportunities for growth. I want to take a moment to share some important thoughts on how we can navigate these coming weeks together as a strong school community. 📝 Putting Our Best Foot Forward: State Testing This month marks the beginning of our state assessment season. While "testing" can sometimes feel like a heavy word, I want our students to view this as a chance to shine. These assessments are simply a way for students to show how much they have learned and grown this year. To our students: 🙌Don't stress. You have been working hard all year, and your teachers have prepared you well. Get plenty of sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and just give us your honest best effort. Your worth is not defined by a score, but your hard work always deserves to be celebrated. 🌱 Prioritizing Mental Health With the increased pace of the spring semester, it is more important than ever to check in on our mental well-being. Academic success and emotional health go hand-in-hand. We encourage our students to practice self-care: take breaks, spend time outdoors in the fresh air, and talk to a trusted adult if things feel overwhelming. Parents, please keep those lines of communication open at home. A little extra grace and a listening ear can make all the difference during a busy testing week. 🏫 Attendance Matters: Every Day Counts As the weather gets nicer, it can be tempting to let routines slide. However, consistent attendance remains the single most important factor in student success. When students are here, they are part of the conversation, the collaboration, and the community. Missing even a day or two can create gaps in learning that are hard to bridge. Let’s finish the year strong by making sure every student is in their seat, ready to learn, every single day. 👨👩👧👦 The Power of Positive Parenting We are so grateful for the partnership we have with our families. Active, positive parenting is the backbone of our students’ resilience. Tip for the Month:Try focusing on "process praise" rather than "result praise." Instead of saying, "You’re so smart for getting an A," try, "I’m so proud of how hard you studied for that project." This builds a growth mindset and encourages children to persevere through challenges. Your involvement—whether it’s checking a folder, attending a school event, or simply asking "What was the best part of your day?"—sends a powerful message to your child that their education is a priority. Thank you for your continued support, your dedication to our school, and for making our community such a wonderful place to learn and grow. Warmly, Mrs. A. Almanza Principal
