On the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the Vidal M. Treviño School of Communications and Fine Arts (VMT) Music Department hosted a solemn tribute honoring local first responders, veterans, and the victims who lost their lives in the 2001 tragedy.
The commemorative gathering began in the school lobby, where guests were greeted with welcoming pre-ceremony music performed by the VMT Guitar Ensemble under the direction of Mr. Carlos Morales, alongside Mr. Jose Villa’s Piano Studio. As attendees entered the main auditorium, the somber atmosphere continued with musical selections from Mr. John Reimund’s Brass Studio and Mrs. Melissa Hinojosa’s Camerata Winds ensemble.
The official ceremony opened with a moving rendition of the National Anthem, performed by the VMT Concert Choir under the direction of Ms. Celia Hernandez. Guest speaker Mr. Humberto Frausto Jr. then took the stage to share his personal experience serving our country, reflecting on the lasting impact of service and selflessness. To conclude the program, the VMT Strings and VMT Concert Choir joined together for a powerful performance of “Dona Nobis Pacem.”
The event’s success was made possible through the collaboration of VMT administration, faculty, and staff, along with Technical Theater students under the leadership of Mr. Wolfe. Commercial Photography students Alan Garcia Ramirez, Alexandra Delgado, and Carla Torres were also on hand to document the ceremony.
As the VMT community gathered to reflect, the message echoed across the auditorium remained clear: We will never forget.
